Film Rights Management & Exploitation

PEXCOM GmbH is a media company specialising in the exploitation of film rights.

 

As a specialist partner for the commercial exploitation of copyright, we ensure that film productions in Germany and Austria – and, in future, in other European countries too – generate additional revenue beyond traditional distribution channels (cinema, TV, streaming, DVD/Blu-ray) – transparently, efficiently and fairly.
PEXCOM is registered with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) as an independent rights management organization [Link].

We bundle and market audiovisual rights of use:

As a direct – and in some cases exclusive – licensee of numerous national and international producers and film distributors, we acquire the distribution rights to films and series for defined territories. In addition, we act as the exclusive partner of filmbankmedia (Filmbank Distributors Ltd., UK), the joint venture between Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures Releasing and NT Digital Partners.

 

In this capacity, we acquire the rights to public performance (Section 19(4) of the German Copyright Act (UrhG)) and public communication (Section 22 UrhG), as well as the right of public communication in accordance with Article 3(1) of the InfoSoc Directive 2001/29/EC, as interpreted by the European Court of Justice (ECJ). This includes, in particular, use in hotels, hospitals, cruise ships, schools and similar establishments.

On this basis, we consolidate the rights of producers and rights holders and grant them in a structured manner to partner organisations such as RAW Einrichtung zur Geltendmachung der Rechte der öffentlichen Aufführung/Wiedergabe von Audiovisuellen Medien GmbH for operational exploitation in Austria and Germany – in Germany in cooperation with the independent rights management organization Verwertungseinrichtung Audiovision GmbH [Link] – as well as, in future, in other European countries.

The VEA offers you legally compliant licenses for the public screening of films in schools, clubs, municipalities and other institutions in Germany. With our program license, you can show films or the TV program legally and easily.

RAW

As a state-approved copyright society for the management of audiovisual rights in Austria, RAW represents film producers and rights holders vis-à-vis public and private institutions and ensures that its members receive income from the use of their creative services.
